I took this photo on my way home last night – probably around 5:30 or so. The sky was so pretty – with the blue and green jewel tones. Something appealed to me about this sign post with all these signs stacked on top of one another. It’s kind of messy and chaotic… just like the East Village.
Meanwhile, I just nearly had a nervous breakdown. You see… I was all good and responsible when it came to officially changing my last name after our wedding. I did my social security card and my driver’s license right away – but I still have a few lingering things that I have yet to change… one being my passport. I don’t know why I’m procrastinating… laziness? Perhaps I’m holding on to a little piece of the original Nell… who knows.
Anyway, I could have sworn I made our Bahamas flight reservations under my maiden name to match my passport, yet when I just went to print out my confirmation, I realized I used my married name. OOPS! I called the US Government and they told me to call the airline…. heart beating faster… picturing Adam having to leave me at customs and go on without me… oh shit.
So I frantically pressed the number zero about ten times when I got to the Jet Blue automated phone menu and was instantly connected with a real person – a nice lady, who told me her friend is having a baby and naming it Nellie Gene. We were already off to a good start. She was so sweet and within five minutes, she had switched my name on my airline ticket to my maiden name and had emailed me a revised confirmation. Hallelujah right?? I’m seriously shocked at the excellent customer service! I’m so used to terrible customer service! I wish I got her name so I could write her a nice note. Way to go Jet Blue!
So – we’re off to the Bahamas tomorrow morning at the crack of dawn – hopefully now without drama. Adam’s attending a filmmaker’s retreat so I’m on my own for most of the day tomorrow. If we have wifi, I’ll definitely blog from the festival to keep you posted! Hello Lonesome is screening twice – on Friday and Sunday afternoon.
Ok sunshine… take me away!!!
Have a fantastic time you two!!!
XOXO
Have fun and be safe!!!! I can’t wait to read all about it.
