Photo 147 & 148 out of 365…

This is a gorgeous glass marble blown by our good friend Ben.  The marble is sitting on Brette & Ben’s bookshelf – I eliminated all the extraneous color because I felt like it was a distraction from the beauty of the marble itself.  I still don’t even feel like I captured its beauty to the fullest.  It has all these layers and depth – spiraling inward.  It’s quite outstanding.  I still have plans to go to Ben’s workshop out in Long Island and photograph him blowing glass – we just haven’t had the time this summer to arrange it quite yet.  I think it’ll be a challenge to get the glass to look as beautiful in a photograph as it does in real life… without the 3-d element… but hey, challenges are good  – I’m sure I’ll figure it out as I go.

This is my block – outside of my apartment building on Friday night.  My aim was to capture the bicycle and it’s shadow.   I was also attracted to the pools of light on the sidewalk coming from the outside lights on my building.  Also the purple-glow of the sky and the coppery light on the leaves of the tree.

I hope everyone’s having a great weekend so far.  Today was gorgeous!!  We slept until around 11:00 this morning (heaven) and then I was on the computer working on Jess’s head shots (among other things) until around 4:30pm.  At that point, I got major cabin fever and had to leave house immediately.  I went for a nice walk to go visit my friend Robyn up on her roof – she’s my new neighbor now since she moved back to NYC from Geneva – YAY!  She had some friends over and made a cocktail called Pimm’s Cup… absolutely delicious with cucumber and strawberries!

Now, Adam and I are going to get ready to head out to dinner…  a lovely weekend thus far – looking forward to another day off tomorrow and brunch at Fornino in Park Slope!
